How to sign up for Polymarket
Check that Polymarket is available where you live, go to polymarket.com (or download Polymarket US if you are in the United States), sign up with email or a crypto wallet, then secure your account before depositing.
Quick steps
- Check availability. Polymarket restricts more than 40 countries and regions. Read our availability page first; if your country is blocked, do not try to get around it.
- Go to the real site. Type polymarket.com yourself or use a link you trust. Fake look-alike domains are a common way to steal deposits.
- Create your account. Click Sign Up and continue with email or connect an existing crypto wallet.
- Pick a username and secure the account. Choose a public username and save any recovery or export options the app shows you.
- Fund and trade. Once the account exists you can deposit and place your first trade.
Before you start
Two things save most beginners from trouble. First, confirm that Polymarket is allowed in your country on our availability page. Second, bookmark the real domain: polymarket.com for the international platform. Never enter a seed phrase or private key on any site that asks for it during sign-up.

Signing up for Polymarket US
If you live in the United States, the international site is not for you. Polymarket US is a separate, CFTC-regulated product available through its app (and on the web where offered). It asks for full identity verification (name, address, date of birth and ID), and it funds accounts in US dollars. Availability can differ by state while courts sort out who regulates prediction markets, so check inside the app.
Avoid fake Polymarket sites
- Do not click “Polymarket” links in direct messages or search ads you did not expect.
- Polymarket support will never ask for your seed phrase or private key.
- Guides like this one link out to Polymarket; they never ask you to deposit on their own pages.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need ID to sign up for Polymarket?
Polymarket US requires full identity verification. The international platform lets you start with an email or wallet, but its terms still apply, and accounts in restricted locations can be frozen.
Can I use a VPN to sign up?
No. Using a VPN to reach Polymarket from a blocked country breaks its terms of service and may break local law. We do not recommend it.
How long does sign-up take?
Usually a few minutes on the international platform. Identity checks on Polymarket US can take longer.
