The legal situation in India
The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 bans online money gaming, and Indian authorities treat prediction markets as part of that banned category. By May 2026 Polymarket had become unreachable in India after a reported MeitY blocking order. On 25 April 2026 MeitY told VPN providers not to give access to blocked prediction market and betting sites.

What are your options in India?
If Polymarket or local law restricts this country, the honest answer is: don't try to get around it. VPNs and third-party wallets break Polymarket's terms, can get funds frozen and may be illegal locally. Look for prediction markets or exchanges licensed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and check back here: rules change.
