The legal situation in Liberia

Polymarket does not geoblock Liberia, and Liberia has gone the other way from most regulators. In February 2026 the National Lottery Authority formally authorised prediction markets under its Liberian International Gaming License framework. The authorisation covers B2C and B2B prediction-based betting. Polymarket itself does not appear to hold that licence, and no Liberian action against it was found.

Key facts

  • 5 Feb 2026: the NLA authorised prediction markets under the Liberian International Gaming License.
  • The framework covers B2C operators and B2B suppliers, and allows licensees to acquire a financial services provider.
  • The NLA enforces actively against illegal betting, including raids in Lofa County in 2026 and a suspension of LiPay over 1xBet operations.
  • There is no dedicated crypto law; the Central Bank of Liberia has no consumer crypto framework.
