The legal situation in Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is not geoblocked by Polymarket, and the AVW's 2025 annual report does not mention prediction markets. Unlike neighbouring Switzerland, where Gespa has blocklisted Polymarket, Liechtenstein has no ISP blocking regime for foreign online gambling. In 2025 the Landtag asked whether Swiss online blocks should be adopted. A data-exchange agreement with Switzerland on excluded players took effect on 7 January 2025.

Key facts

  • Under the Geldspielgesetz, betting requires a government organiser licence plus a per-game AVW licence; nobody applied in 2025.
  • 7 Jan 2025: agreement with Switzerland on exchanging gambling-exclusion data entered into force.
  • The casino licence moratorium expired on 31 Dec 2025 and was not extended.
  • Crypto is regulated under the Token and TT Service Provider Act (TVTG), in force since 1 Jan 2020.
