The legal situation in Suriname

Polymarket does not geoblock Suriname, and no Surinamese action against Polymarket was found. Gambling is supervised by the Gaming Control Board under the Wet Toezicht en Controle Kansspelen, amended in 2023 (S.B. 2023 no. 134). On 10 December 2025 MPs filed an initiative bill to ban online gambling, the Wet verbod Online Kansspelen en Digitale Kansspelpreventie. In May 2026 it was still at committee stage, and the GCBS said it preferred regulation to a blanket ban.
