Law 19.535 (articles 244-245, 2017) and Decree 366/017 ban unauthorised online betting and let the DNLQ block such sites. More than 1,700 sites had been blocked by April 2026. Supermatch is the only licensed online operator. Crypto is legal and regulated by the BCU under Law 20.345 (2024) and Law 20.446.

What are your options in Uruguay?

If Polymarket or local law restricts this country, the honest answer is: don't try to get around it. VPNs and third-party wallets break Polymarket's terms, can get funds frozen and may be illegal locally. Look for prediction markets or exchanges licensed by Dirección Nacional de Loterías y Quinielas (DNLQ); Banco Central del Uruguay (BCU) for virtual assets, and check back here: rules change.
